Today’s Text: Acts 28:1–6
Key Verse: Acts 28:5 (ESV) — “He, however, shook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm.”

God often allows His servants to pass through unexpected storms, not to destroy them, but to reveal His power and preserve their calling. In today’s text, Paul has already survived the storm, the shipwreck, and the cold reality of landing on an unfamiliar shore, yet a venomous viper suddenly fastens itself to his hand. What should have brought death becomes the stage for divine testimony, because the Lord who carried him through the sea also keeps him through the serpent.
The context matters: Paul is not on a vacation from purpose; he is on assignment in the middle of adversity. Malta is not the place he planned, but it becomes the place where God confirms that no weapon formed against him can prevail. When the serpent attaches itself, the people expect him to swell up and die, but the Word says he simply shook it off into the fire and suffered no harm. That is the posture of a believer who knows that the enemy may strike, but he cannot stay.
This speaks powerfully to every child of God who has felt something poisonous clinging to the hand of destiny. Some burdens, attacks, accusations, fears, and habits do not vanish by discussion; they must be shaken off by faith, obedience, and spiritual resolve. The fire is still available for whatever the serpent tries to attach to your life. You do not need to negotiate with what God has already given you power to cast away.
Shake off the beast today. Shake off the poison of fear, the shame of delay, the weight of discouragement, and the surprise attacks that came after your victory. Your storm did not kill you, your shipwreck did not finish you, and this attack will not define you. God is still using your hands, your life, and your testimony for His glory.
Action Steps: Identify the thing that has attached itself to your peace, your faith, or your forward movement, and refuse to carry it another day. In prayer, shake off every spiritual poison and throw it into the fire. Keep moving in obedience even when the enemy tries to distract or intimidate you. Trust God to turn what looked like an attack into a public testimony of His preserving power.
Quote for the Day: “What the serpent fastens to your life, the fire of faith can still consume; shake it off and keep moving.”— (Simon Olatunji #quotablequotes)
Let Us Pray: Lord, thank You for preserving me through storms, shipwrecks, and every sudden attack of the enemy. By Your grace, I shake off every beast that has attached itself to my life, my mind, my family, and my destiny. Let every poisonous thing be consumed by Your fire, and let nothing hinder the assignment You have placed on me. Strengthen me to keep walking in victory and in bold faith. — in Jesus' most glorious name. Amen.
