Sincere Seekers will Find the Light

Daily Scripture Threshing for Friday, December 24, 2021

Today’s Text: Matthew 2:1-6

Key Verse: Matthew 2:2 (ESV): “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.

No matter how faraway anyone feels or is; s/he can never be too far gone to be able to come seek, and find the light of Jesus Christ. While ours is a generation that has gone so faraway from God and His light; the God who found out the Magi and showed them the Star of Bethlehem is still in the business of staring the hearts men and women to seek Him today. There are so much to learn from today’s scripture. God gives opportunity to all men. The light of Jesus Christ is unprejudiced. It reaches every person on earth no matter the color, class or creed; or how far away they are from Him. Those Magi were not Jews. They neither serve the Lord God of Israel nor know His laws. At best, they were adventurous heathen tourists, magicians and astrologers from the East. There is a good news in this: God always satisfies man’s sincere search for truth.

The Messiah and the saving grace He brings is not for Jews only. The gentile Magi saw the light of His star in/from faraway East. This teaches us that anyone who seek and follow the star of Jesus will certainly not be stranded. No, they can never miss their way. Whoever seek Jesus finds Him. Unfortunately, there are many who are very close to the kingdom, and know enough about Jesus who have not done anything about what they have seen, heard or known about Him. They let people, culture or status deprive them of seeking and worshiping Jesus. What would you do to change this situation? God never reject anyone who seek Him. The gospel of Jesus is whosoever will may come. Jesus is the desire of all ages. When the Magi found His Star, they were overjoyed—not with emotional frenzy—but an excitement motivated by gratitude, demonstrated by worship, and resulting in freewill surrender.

Quote for the Day: “In the north, south east or west, the Star of Jesus, wherever found, is the surest guide to all pilgrims. All those guided by Christ’s light make it home.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Dear Lord, I pray Your light over the dark places of this generation. Please shine Your light l, O Lord God of light. Let the be light this day and always— in Jesus name. Amen.

I wish you all a merry Christmas and a prosperous new year with all my love and prayers,

Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D
