Spectacular Visitation

Today’s Text:  Luke 1:26-38

Key Verse: Luke 1:35 (NIV): "The angel answered, 'The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God."

As I welcome you to this new month of August, let me also invite you to reflect with me on the spectacular visitation of Angel Gabriel to Mary, during the annunciation of the miraculous birth of Jesus. Can you imagine how receiving an unexpected visit from an angel would be like? Such visit can be both astonishing and unsettling. But, I dare you get yourself ready for an extraordinary visitation in your life. We are blessed to learn from Mary's response which was one of faith and surrender.

One of the marks of divine presence is that the focus or spotlight is always on the Spirit work and words: "The Holy Spirit will come on you..." This new month, I assure you of a spectacular visitation in your life because God has spoken to us about it. So, envision the unusual Spirit's presence, like a gentle breeze or a warm light, in your heart and home. Make yourself humble and ready to receive the overshadowing power of the Most High. You shall be enveloped in God's loving care, His power and protection surrounding you.

God desires to meet with you today. Be open to His presence and guidance. Like Mary, surrender to God's plan, even when it seems unexpected or challenging. Remember that the Holy Spirit is always with you, empowering and guiding you. Remember that God's power and presence are accessible. God always wants to work through you in amazing ways! Take a step of faith today and see what He can do. Take a moment in prayer: ask God for His spectacular visitation and breathe, and let His peace settle in your heart?!

Action Steps: Reflect on the power of the Holy Spirit in your life and how you can surrender to His visitation. Identify areas where you need to trust God more and take a step of faith. Meditate on the angel's words to Mary and ask God to help you trust His plans for your life.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the spectacular visitation of Your angel to Mary. Thank You because you are more able and willing to reveal yourself and glory in my life. Please help me, Lord, to be open to Your presence and guidance in my life. And, may Your Holy Spirit overshadow me, filling me with Your love and power — in Jesus's most glorious name. Amen.
