Standing Firm in the Lord (Part 3)

Daily Scripture Threshing for Saturday, February 19, 2022

Today’s Text: Ephesians 6:10-18

Key Verse: Ephesians 6:13 (ESV): “Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.”

So far, we have come to the third rung of our ladder to God’s full armor. It’s so important that we all realize that once we come to Christ, we are grafted into God’s end-time army. It’s a remarkable error to assume that because we are in the Lord, we are free from satanic attacks. Indeed, such thinking is itself an attack. And the same reason is enough to rout anyone of their feet. Because being unsuspecting of enemies’ whirls gives more room for that enemy to hit you harder. A right mindset is what would move us to take up our full armor—what is called the whole armor — an idea of going all the way to make sure your back is never down. Our enemy never retreats nor surrenders. If anything, he seeks every way and overtime to bring us down.

The message of this scripture is very clear and simple, believers’ only option, if they hope to stand or withstand the growing faces of evil in their world, is to put on the whole armor of God. No one puts on, who has not first put off. The adornment of soldiers may not be combined with civilian under-wears. Therefore, to stand, let us put on; and to put on, let us put off all civilian undergarments. “No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.” (2 Timothy 2:4) Therefore, let us put off weapons of poisonous tongues, trifle devices, bitterness, revenge, hate, and resentment. We cannot combat the cosmic powers over this present darkness, and all the spiritual forces of evil in heavenly places while dressed in their armor. We must take those off, and put on the whole armor of God — the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, shoes for the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, the sword of the Spirit, and praying at all times.

Quote for the Day: “We cannot combat the cosmic powers over this present darkness, and all the spiritual forces of evil in heavenly places, while dressed in their armor.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Dear Lord, You who spoiled all principalities and powers and made a show of them openly and triumphed over them; in You I claim and walk in victory. And in Your name, I defeat all Satanic weapons of insinuations, accusations, and temptations — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
