Today’s Text: Ephesians 6:10-18
Key Verse: Ephesians 6:13 (ESV): “Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.”
As we grow in grace and in the service of the Lord, we are open to higher level of spiritual censures and oppositions. The reason is simple: the more we grow and stand firm, the more we culminate indelible threat to the devil’s kingdom; and he will fight back. Yes, that is why Satan keeps us bombarded with adversities and adversaries. This is the same reason Apostle Paul wrote while in Ephesus about a wide door for effective ministry that was opened to him with many adversaries. He did not say, “but” there are many adversaries. Rather, he said “and there are many adversaries.”This means that adversaries go along with every open door for effective ministry.
The more we serve God, the more we attract satanic interest. But in spite of all satanic arsenals, we can stand secure through God. Yes, we can as long as we obey His word regarding our warfare and weapons. We can withstand the enemy if we understand the biblical description and spiritual significance of the battle we are in. We can stand if our spiritual preparation for the fight is solid. We can stand if we take advantage of our true strength—the real act of the fight—which is being strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Our strength is never in our selves. It is never in our theology or spirituality. It is not in our structure and organizational prowess. No, not in the strength of our men; but our help is from the Lord.
Quote for the Day: “Any Christian who fails to brace and gird himself through a firm conviction in, and reliance upon, the power of God’s might risks a fatal fall and failure.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, You are my hiding place, and under Your wings I can always find refuge. Strengthen me each day to walk in victory wherever I go, and keep me standing despite the faces of evil in this present dark world — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
I wish you a happy Lord’s day with all my Love and Prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
