Steadfast Love

Daily Scripture Threshing for Today, Sunday, June 7, 2026

Today’s Text: Lamentations 3:22–26

Key Verse: Lamentations 3:23 (ESV) — “They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

God is not only the God of beginnings; He is also the God of steadfast mercy, sustaining His people through every season of weakness, waiting, and weariness. In Lamentations, Jeremiah speaks from the ruins of Jerusalem, yet even there he discovers that God’s covenant love has not failed. The setting is important: this is not a poem written from comfort, but from grief, and that makes the testimony of God’s steadfastness even more powerful. When everything around us seems broken, the Lord remains faithful, and His mercies rise again like the morning light.

In today’s text, Jeremiah says, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end” (Lamentations 3:22). The Hebrew idea behind steadfast love is covenant loyalty, the kind of love that does not collapse when circumstances change. This means God’s faithfulness is not dependent on our performance, moods, or success. He remains constant when our hearts are unstable, and He keeps us when we cannot keep ourselves.

This is why today’s threshing is about steadfastness: God is firm in His commitment, and He calls His people to live with that same enduring faith. To be steadfast is to remain anchored in trust, obedience, and hope even when answers delay and life feels uncertain. Jeremiah says, “The Lord is my portion,” which means the believer’s confidence is not in shifting conditions but in the unchanging character of God. Steadfastness is not stubbornness; it is faith that refuses to let go of God.

Child of God, your strength may fail, but God’s mercy will not. His compassions are new every morning, and that means yesterday’s pain does not have the final word over today’s hope. The God who sustained you before will sustain you again, and He is able to hold you steady until the season changes. So do not interpret delay as abandonment, and do not confuse silence with absence.

Action Steps: Today, identify one area where you have become spiritually weary and bring it honestly before the Lord. Choose one promise of God to meditate on throughout the day, letting it anchor your heart. Practice steadfastness by refusing to react out of fear, impatience, or despair. Trust that the same God who was faithful yesterday is still faithful today.

Let Us Pray: Lord, You are faithful in every season, and Your steadfast love never fails. When my heart grows weary, hold me by Your mercy and teach me to trust You daily. Let Your compassions meet me afresh this morning, and keep me anchored in hope, obedience, and peace. Strengthen me to remain steadfast in You, no matter what I face. In Jesus’ most glorious name.
