Strength to the Weary

Daily Scripture Threshing for Saturday, June 25, 2022

Today’s Text: Isaiah 40:27-31

Key Verse: Isaiah 40:29 (ESV): “He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.

It is a natural thing to feel exhausted. We all go through those moments when our minds and bodies grow weary, tired and weak. That is why the urge to quit is common to all. Whether from a busy work schedule, personal health issues, or spiritual experience; everyone of us, one time or the other, go through exhaustion and burnout. We have bills to pay, we face bad week at work, career or ministry bumps here and there, discouraging relationships, occurrences that stress and depress us — whatever the case may be, we can find strength in God.

Our first good news is: God is very conscious of our weakness and our need for strength. Then we can be grateful that He has all powers and strength on earth and in heaven, and, is always willing to give us His power. God’s power is available to us when we feel down and out; when we need encouragement; when we are emotionally drained and physically weak; when our faith and hope are very low. In all these slumps, God wants to pull us out. He wants to lift us up and get us back on our feet again.

Brethren, let your spirit find consolation in this scripture. It will enliven and encourage you for the roads ahead. These are no days for us to pretend or boast about our strength at all. Those who pretend of boast strength regardless of how youthful and lanky they are shall find those strength unavailing. We will all fail and sink if God refuses to strengthen us, or if He withdraws His support from us. We can draw incredible strength from Him through prayer and waiting upon the Lord. Let this scripture spur you to run to God in whatever may be your situation. He will give you strength.

Quote for the Day: “God’s strength is available to all, without prejudice to age. Eagles live and retain their God-given vigor to a great age." (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Dear Lord, Your word declares that all power belongs to You and that You are ready to give power to those who believe in Jesus Christ, and seek You for strength. Manifest Your strength in my weakness, Lord, and fill me with the power of your Holy Spirit, in Jesus' name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,

Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
