Today’s Text: Genesis 28:10-22
Key Verse: Genesis 28:12 (NLT): “As he slept, he dreamed of a stairway that reached from the earth up to heaven. And he saw the angels of God going up and down the stairway.”

We are often baffled to see the extent to which times have changed, and things are in rather lopsided situations. But we can be grateful to be reminded that the God we serve remains the same—yesterday, today, and forever. He still works in the same miraculous ways as He did in the days of the patriarchs. He still shows up for His people. Yes, He still sends His angels on assignment. Many of us have had encounters with angels in this generation without knowing it. Maybe we are too clogged and clouded to be aware of those angelic visits—I don’t know, but I can tell at least two vivid occasions in my own life when I encountered angels on assignment.
Until God decided to open Jacob’s subconscious realms to the reality at Bethel, he was not aware of such mighty appearances around him. That’s why the writer of Hebrews admonished us to remember to show hospitality to strangers because we can be doing that to angels without knowing it. God’s Bethel is whatever place He has chosen in His wisdom for His divine appearance and interposition. It may or may not be in our most colorful auditorium. It may be on our busy streets but God’s angels are all around, on specific assignments to (and for) whoever is tired, helpless, burdened, needing, and seeking God. They join and spur humans in worship; serve, aid, and protect believers’ interests; bear messages to and from God; and, execute God’s judgment on earth — each day. Your angels may be right by you as you meditate, or you may have just seen or met one.
Quote for the Day: “Angelic appearances and ministries make up a vast spiritual field that we interact with day by day.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, let me not lose touch with my spiritual realities. Open my eyes to see what you are doing in my life and around me. Let me not miss my commissioned helpers — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
With all my Love and Prayers,
