Daily Scripture Threshing for Friday, December 9, 2022

Today’s Text: 2 Timothy 3:16–17

Key Verse: 2 Timothy 3:16 (NLT): “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.”

We live in such an age in which men and women are focusing on several famous Christmas characters which they think really matters during this special season—people that they think make Christmas famous. They think and celebrate all the wrong people and things and never paid the right attention on the right people. But we can be grateful that Apostle Paul was led to emphasize the value of Scriptural revelation: which is always and largely for the purposes of our spiritual life, health and example.

Therefore, we are so blessed to have been given such an amazing revelation of truth in Scriptures: by which we have images of people we’d never have thought of. Therefore, for the next days and weeks leading up to Christmas, we shall be meditating on several Bible characters such as Joseph, Mary, Zechariah and Elizabeth, the angels, the Innkeeper, shepherds, the wise men, Herod, Hannah the daughter of Phanuel, and Simeon the aged. We shall look at all Scripture and find every necessary inspiration, and draw every usefulness.

These characters teach us what is true. Learning how they reacted to the Christ during the first Christmas will help make us realize what is wrong in our own lives, and correct us when we are wrong. So, never approach God’s inspired word the same way as story books. The Scripture is the agency of God in producing the very Divine element we all need to change our life forever.

Quote for the Day: “Every scriptural word is a shrouded spiritual truth waiting to be unraveled by a sincere, simple, open and teachable believer.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Dear Lord, please give me spiritual discernment of Your truth. Let Your Holy Spirit direct me on the right path. Draw me close to You. And as I open your Word, let the Holy Spirit guide me to its hidden truth — in Jesus Christ name. Amen.

With all my Love and Prayers,
