The Genesis of Restoration

Daily Scripture Threshing for Sunday, May 3, 2020

Today’s Text: Genesis 1:9-10

Key Verse: Genesis 1:9 (ESV): And God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it was so.

It is the third day of May and the Lord would have us meditate on the third day of creation. This is not because it happened in May, but because it images the genesis of restoration. It was on that day that earth’s land was called forth out of such natural chaos likable to the incredible moral waste that our world faces today. O how we need God to put our fallen humanity together again and restore our land.

We have heard that the lower is the symbol of the higher, and the seen the antitype of the unseen. In this text, God sets the genesis and mystery of our present fathomless formlessness before us; but He also shows us the genesis of solution. Therefore, as this new month unfolds before us, let us all return to our genesis, to our maker. He alone can recreate our wastelands. With Him, our present dark is only a veiling of the light; and the abyss a veiling of the land.

Quote for the Day: "God sometimes permits disorder to help humanity grow a better perception of the good-ness of order.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Dear Lord, so much confusion and chaos have been stirred up in our world, please breathe your peace upon us and recreate our land, in Jesus name. Amen.

With all my love and prayer,

Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, PhD
