Today’s Text: Esther 6:6–11
Key Verse: Esther 6:11 (ESV) — “So Haman took the robe and the horse, and he dressed Mordecai and led him through the square of the city, proclaiming before him, ‘Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor.’”

God always delights to honor the one whom He has chosen, even when that person has been overlooked, misunderstood, or left waiting in obscurity. In today’s text, Mordecai had no crown, no public applause, and no visible promotion, yet heaven had already marked him for honor. This is one of Scripture’s great reversals: the man the world forgets is often the man the King of glory remembers. Mordecai was not seeking a stage; he was faithfully standing his post. And when the appointed time came, God caused even his enemy to become the announcer of his elevation.
The phrase “the man whom the king delights to honor” speaks of favor that comes not by manipulation, but by divine pleasure. Human systems may delay recognition, but they cannot cancel what God has decided. When the King delights in a man, honor follows in ways that cannot be manufactured or denied.
Yet this honor is not given to feed pride, but to display providence. God raises people not merely for their comfort, but for His purpose, His witness, and His glory. The honored one becomes a testimony that righteousness is never wasted and obedience is never forgotten.
What is God telling us as children of God? We should never despise seasons when we seem unseen. The King still knows your name, your labor, your sacrifice, and your faithfulness. When God’s timing arrives, He can lift you in a day beyond what years of human approval could achieve.
What Mordecai received at the gate was not accidental; it was appointed. The same God who can turn mourning into joy can also turn hiddenness into honor. Stay faithful where you are, and let heaven decide when and how you are seen.
Action Steps: Examine whether you have been pursuing recognition more than obedience. Commit today to faithful service in the place God has given you, even if no one notices. Pray for the grace to wait for God’s timing and to receive honor without losing humility.
Quote for the Day: “The King’s delight is a better promotion than man’s applause.” — (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)
Let Us Pray: Lord, I thank You that You see what others overlook. Teach me to walk in faithfulness, humility, and patience while I wait for Your appointed honor. Deliver me from striving for approval, and make my life a testimony of Your favor and timing. Let me be found among those whom the King delights to honor. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
