Daily Scripture Threshing for Sunday, October 10, 2021
Today’s Text: Ephesians 2:14-16
Key Verses: Ephesians 2:14 (GNT) “He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation.”
The Berlin Wall was a guarded concrete barrier that physically and ideologically divided Berlin from 1961 to 1989. Many people were cut off from their livelihood. This marked an incredible division and led to demonstrations and hostility. The wall went down in 2989 and people breathed a new era of hope, possibility, and liberation not just for East Berliners, but for the collective political arena of the whole world. However, it is now 32 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall; but hostility is gaining strength in every day and sphere.
Nations continue to engage high both powered and subtle military hostilities. Politics is becoming toxic. Indeed, where can we find peace in the world is perhaps man’s most asked question of all times. But the more we tried the higher the walls between us grow: in politics, among races, in marital affairs, in social sectors, and unfortunately in the spiritual or religious. There is enough pain in the world already and God’s people really need to show the world that Jesus indeed is our peace and that He reserves the power to break any wall of hostility and partition down. We must be wary of erecting walls to keep people out. We serve the Lord Jesus Christ who is known for tearing walls down to let people in.
Quote for the Day: “In the mind and teaching of Christ, nothing marks our Union with Him more than our Union with one another.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, grant us the patience to work together in love and unity. Bring us all together as one: working together as kindreds and coheres with Christ. Give us kindness towards one another as we spread your love on earth, in Jesus' name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D
