Today's Text: Mark 2:1-12
Key Verse: Mark 2:4 (RSV): "And when they could not get near him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him; and when they had made an opening, they let down the pallet on which the paralytic lay."

One way or the other, we all have emerged who we are because of the people we surround ourselves with. Whether we are trying to reach a goal and facing an insurmountable obstacle; or we have a vision, we all have, in a way, experienced a blocked path that seems like an impenetrable crowd. When life brings us to such difficult end, such scriptures as today's remind us the power of our friendship's hands. There is always an unstoppable company of friends in our lives who can lend a hand when we incapacitated. These four unnamed men brought their paralyzed friend to Jesus. They are example of the impact of determined and faithful friends. That's how you know that you are surrounded by great company: they won't let the crowd deter them.
We all need faithful men in our lives: men that will be God's means for creative solutions in our lives. We need such great company: they don't have to be a crowd. They may have a crowd to beat, but they will always stand by as strong support system that help overcome whatever seems impossible. These company always stands out. They don't belong to a crowd. They always have a crowd to beat. They are always friends with a burden to help their friend. It may take perseverance and efforts, but they won't mind. It may take tgem out out of the ordinary, yet they won't quit until their friend is brought face to face with help. ,
Jesus is the greatest example of such friend. He cares for, and loves us so much that He, without prejudice, laid down His life for our sins. That is why all of us who genuinely follow Him must demonstrate sincere love and care for others. It is by so doing that we bring them before Jesus. Just as a strong root system provides nourishment for a tree, a great company of friends can provide the support needed for an individual to flourish. Unfortunately, selfishness, arrogance, entitled spirit, pride and sensuality is robbing our generation of the full extent of this blessing.
Let us learn from this four men, what caring for others requires. Let us crave humility and a willingness to serve others. Let us strive to serve others with kindness and compassion, just like Jesus. If and when more Christians care and show such compassion, we shall begin to have a better world, and have more profound impact on others' lives. We need great companies of committed men today who will help others get to where they couldn't get by themselves. We need men who would not let the crowd stop them. We need men who would help others to find a way through the barriers in their lives. O where are these great men of creative faith and determination today, who will climb and lower for their friend's sake?
Action Steps: Be intentional about looking for opportunities to serve and care for others. This could be as simple as offering a listening ear or helping with a practical need. When interacting with others, strive to show empathy and compassion. Put yourself in their shoes and try to understand their perspective. Pray for those around you: ask God to meet their needs and show them His love.
Quote for the Day: "A good company is like a strong root system. It brings nourishment and support needed for an individual to flourish." (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)
Let Us Pray: Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for the gift of friendship and for the opportunity to be a good company to those around me. Help me to show Your love and compassion to those in need. Give me the humility and willingness to serve others, and to impact their lives in a positive way — in Jesus's most glorious name. Amen.
