Daily Scripture Threshing for Saturday, May 13, 2023
Today’s Text: Luke 19: 1-10
Key Verses: Luke 19:8 (ESV): “And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor. And if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I restore it fourfold.”"

Today’s meditation suffices us on the step by step highlights of lessons from the biblical narrative of Zaccheus. So much have been learnt from him; especially that anyone who sincerely desires to know, like Zaccheus, will break through moral, social, religious and spiritual barriers, and, could not be rejected no matter how he comes. This final lessons points us completely away from Zaccheus to the character and person of Christ. And we must let that mind be in us, which was also in Christ: who was/is willing to accept others as they are.
There is no doubt that Jesus knew Zaccheus more than anyone else in the crowd. We must note how He called him by name. We must pay attention to how He declared that he was a “son of Abraham.” Instead of judging and rejecting him, Jesus was out for the positive (the saving faith) in him. Friends, most of the people we castigate, shout down and reject are people that would find favor with Jesus. To such He always extends His grace. We have an endless list of such men — like Mary the Magdalene, blind Bartimaeus, Paul of Tarsus, etc. Unfortunately, we always think that some people are beyond redemption even when they show proof of true repentance.
Quote for the Day: “No man is beyond redemption: so bad that nothing can be done to improve him, or so evil that God cannot save him.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, please teach me to be more like You: in loving others and sharing Your love with them. May I never reject those you love and embrace those you embrace — in Jesus Christ's name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
