This Thy Might

Daily Scripture Threshing for Today, Monday, September 29, 2025

Today's Text: Judges 6:11-24

Key Verse: Judges 6:14 (KJV): "And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?”

The Christian tasks always feel impossible: from the easy ones such as personal devotions and Bible studies, and getting up in the night to pray, dedication to public worship through teachings, caring for others, and making disciples; to the arduous ones such as evangelism and missions to dangerous salvaged nations. These tasks require the strength we know we don't naturally possess within us. It was in this kind of a moment that we found a fearful man named Gideon. A man hiding: threshing wheat in a winepress to conceal it from the Midianites. A man that feels so weak and vulnerable.

But God always meets us in the middle of our weaknesses and vulnerability. An Angel of the LORD found him in that hideous winepress and addressed him as a "mighty man of valor" when he, Gideon, saw himself as a massive failure. A feeling that made him to immediately question God, pointing out not only his own weakness, but also his family's, and his status as the least in his father's house. This interaction sets the stage for us to understand God's powerful declaration to us in today's key verse. It is a profound truth: the strength to accomplish God's will is not human might, but divine power.

There is always an undiscovered might of God in our fearful lungs. It is always sufficient for God's powerful commission in your life. This is why you can't trust your alms of flesh. The emphasis hete is trusting in God's divine power rather than our own strengths or weaknesses. The "might" Gideon was to use was not his limited human capacity, but the power and presence of God accompanying him. This message is profoundly relevant to us today. Like Gideon, we often feel unqualified, weak, or overwhelmed by the challenges—the "Midianites"—in our lives.

God, however, calls snd qualifies the seemingly unqualified and works mightily through them. Our strength for God's mission comes directly from the Divine Commission and assurance: "Have not I sent thee?" This assures us that we will never go alone. We have divine backing to overcome any obstacle and fulfill His will. God's Presence as Power is the core of the Christian calling. True courage is found in obedience in the face of fear and doubt, not in the absence of fear.

Are you called to step out in faith—whether in service, ministry, or personal challenge—you are not to rely on self-sufficiency. This scripture is written for our example: we are never called to rely on our own strength, but the God who called us, also gives us His Spirit to equip, support and strengthen us for all tasks. It’s this realization—that God’s power works best through human weakness—that helps us find the confidence we need to truly go in the might of God in us.

Action Steps: Don't be in denial. Acknowledge challenging situations in your life where you feel weak or unqualified. Instead of focusing on your own lack of ability, trust and declare God's promise to be with you. Identify one step of obedience you can take today toward that challenge, trusting that God's power is your true might. Pray for the courage to act despite any fear. Say this loud: I am divinely sent and graced, in Jesus's name!

Quote for the Day: "When God calls a man, He puts His might in him so that he no longer relies on his own strength, but on the 'might' God provides by His empowering presence." (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)

Let Us Pray: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for commissioning us and assuring us of Your constant presence. Help me to recognize that my true might is found in Your power working through my weakness. Give me the courage to overcome my fears and weaknesses so that I, by faith, may step out in obedience to Your calling, to the end that Your will is fully accomplished in me and through me — in Jesus's most glorious name. Amen.
