Today’s Text: 2 Corinthians 9:15
Key Verse: 2 Corinthians 9:15 (NASB): “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!”
God’s blessings and goodness in our lives has no compassion. We have all seen good things in our lives. We have been marvelously helped here are there. But indeed, not a single blessing comes to us but from God. O friend, have you ever sit back to consider the extent of God’s love for you? Have ever felt your hands and barns are all too tight or small to receive all the manifold blessings that are yours in Christ? No single one of us has any need so much that it matches the extent to which God is willing, ready and able to bless us. His hands are bigger than our widest barns.
If you have ever come close to the feeling that God’s hands are bigger than your barns, then you can relate with the little boy’s story, who visited to a local store with his mother. The kind shop owner, perceiving their needs, passed him a large jar of suckers and invited him to help himself to a handful. Uncharacteristically, the boy held back. So the shop owner pulled out a handful for him. When outside, the boy’s mother asked why he had suddenly become so shy and wouldn’t take a handful of free suckers. The boy replied, “Because his hand is much bigger than mine!”
The blessings that God lavishes on us from His splendor and glory are unspeakably so rich and wonderful beyond our ability to fully describe or receive them. God loves us so much that He gave us a more precious treasure than all world’s valued pearls through the Son of His love. His grace is greater than precious stones of great price to the rich; better than bread to the hungry; sweeter than wine and honey; better than water to the thirsty; and yes, indeed, greater than freedom to the slave. God’s hands with which He bestows infinite train of spiritual goodness through Christ are indescribable. Indeed, we have so great reasons to give God thanks for His indescribable gift. Forplacing “all things" at our disposal on top of not withholding His Son from us? Or what blessing can match this great experience of the freely given grace with which we are saved from the laws of sin and death.
Quote for the Day: “Nothing in all the grandeur of the world’s richest history is as blessed as the least of God’s saved soul.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: O Lord, I thank you for the moon, sun, and stars; I thank you for the gift of life, and all you've done for me. I will forever proclaim my gratitude as a testimony to your manifold blessings throughout the world, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D
