Today’s Text: Hebrews 4:12-16
Key Verse: Hebrews 4:15 (ESV): “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.”

Our world is in a dilemma right now as the current generation emerges more and more. The stronger they become, the weaker everything else seems. They have been marked “Generation Z,” or “Gen Z.” Our society is going through incredible change as this generation waxes stronger each day. Family ideals and values are weaker. Whereas social media birthed a stronger system or structure of information and communication, yet leaves us with weaker outcomes and efficiency as communal spirit and communication within the family breaks down more and more. They (the Gen Z) are not the problem; but people live in the world they have created.
That is why we feel so strong; yet so weak. No doubt, this generation has changed our lives by its views on life, family, knowledge, success, sexuality and power. But while we grapple with all our infirmities and struggle for a future and a hope, we are brought to this exhortation and encouragement. The apostle wants us to understand the greatness and the tender compassion of our High Priest in spite of all emerging weaknesses. Jesus suffers with us, not merely by showing compassion to us in suffering and temptations, but by taking our feeling of weaknesses upon Himself. He is never cold or unfeeling. He abundantly sympathizes with us in our afflictions, and therefore, we can trust Him to help us. We can call upon Him to be our strength. We can rely on Him to give us sweet and satisfying rest both on earth and in eternity with God.
Quote for the Day: “It is strength and wisdom to trust Jesus Christ, who I s our true High Priest, who made Himself a sacrifice for us on earth; and in heaven, is interceding our cause.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, I humble myself before you. I confess my weaknesses so that You can be my strength. May you work through the weaknesses of our generation, and change us, Lord. May we look away from ourselves even in our struggle — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
