Today Text: Psalm 71:1 -13
Key Verse: Psalm 71:1 (KJV): “In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.”
We all have fears and doubts, don’t we? We all go through moments in which we think weird of the situations we find ourselves. The reason is very simple: the nature of Adam in all of us often rare the ugly head of fears and doubt, brought about by the original sin. Holy men are not immune from this. Otherwise, no one would think it necessary that David, who demonstrated such magnificent faith in God, would ever need to pray that he might never be made ashamed of his dependence upon God. You see what I mean? So, whenever you feel that way, just know that you are not alone. What you’d need to do, however, is raise this sincere petition. Be humble about it. It is the humble cry of every true believer. Don’t you ever pretend about it. God already knows about your frailty. And, He knows about that reason you are afraid. But remember that He has also make the way for you to come boldly to the throne of grace.
Our fears are real, and so is the presence of God. The presence of heavenly hosts with Elisha and his servant Gehaz were still true whether their eyes were open or not. We don’t have to see what God is doing. We must be confident He’s doing something, anyway. Confidence in God’s gracious care and providence ought always to be believers’ hope whether the days are clear or cloudy; or whether we experience the ease of comfort or the uneasiness of worries. Those who love the Lord, must never feel there is ever any time He leaves or forsakes them. All faithful servants of God must be confident that He (God) never cast off, nor forsake us. No, not even when we have doubts, our faith weakens, or our strength fails.
Quote for the Day: “When fears seem stronger than faith, prayers must be louder than ever.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, You who, in the days of Your flesh, suffered as we do and passed through trials of life, help me to realize that you are with me at all times and in all thing — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
