Daily Scripture Threshing for Monday, March 15, 2021
Today’s Text: 1 Kings 18:41-46
Key Verse: 1 Kings 18:44 — “Finally the seventh time, his servant told him, “I saw a little cloud about the size of a man’s hand rising from the sea.” Then Elijah shouted, “Hurry to Ahab and tell him, ‘Climb into your chariot and go back home. If you don’t hurry, the rain will stop you!’"

Truth be told: we have all got jolted, one time or the other, into the corner of wondering whether God heard a particular petition or not. This feeling makes us feel that there is something in our life that is hindering our prayers from getting answered. At those times, some of us adopt the theology of Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar, the three friends of Job, who opined that God punished Job, and failed to hear him because of unknown sins. But the Bible is filled with stories of godly men and women who are examples for us of how God wants His people to patiently wait on Him, and trust Him for the fullness of time.
Perhaps you have prayed for something for a long time and it seems like God doesn’t hear your prayers. Look at Elijah’s example. God wants us to learn how to wait for the right timing when that miracle or blessing we seek would be better auspicious reason to give praise to Him alone. Elijah was not discouraged. Rather, he waited for time, and kept on seeking and praying for an answer.
So, before you agree with the devil that you are not praying for the right things and quit; please take a look at this story of Elijah. There would have been no rain if Elijah had quitted the top of Mt. Carmel’s experience. But he did not give up. He tarried on Carmel, kept bowing low to the ground and praying with his face between his knees until the hand of God was revealed. The big word for us here is “Be patient!” Let us all keep waiting for time when the hand of God will be revealed.
Quote for the Day: “Nothing untimely gets attention. And the reason is simple: God is pleased to make sure that a thing is only beautiful in its time.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank You that You answer prayers; and that, in Your perfect timing. Please make me ready to handle Your way of answering me, in Jesus name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
