Today’s Text: Job 14:7-14
Key Verse: Job 14:14 (NKJV): “If a man dies, shall he live again? All the days of my hard service I will wait, Till my change comes.”

We all ask questions when we see the side of life that is rather undesirable. Often, such questions are rhetorical and mostly come with assumed meaning. But we still ask them anyway. Job was a man of like passion as we: he ask a question that he almost was absolutely certain of the answer.“ and he was ready “all the days of his warfare —i.e., as long as he lives — to continue to hope for divine interposition. That is where many of us differ from him. Whereas we do not have burdens different from old time prophets and our brethren in the world; our attitudes are not all the same. Job was committed to waiting upon God till his change comes.
Job’s question waited long for an answer. Weary centuries rolled away; but at last the doubting, almost despairing, cry put into the mouth of the man of sorrows of the Old Testament is answered by the Man of Sorrows of the New. The answer in words is this second text which may almost be supposed to allude to the ancient question. The answer, in fact, is the resurrection of Christ. Apart from this answer there is none.
Truth be told: waiting is hard to do. Most postmodern folks consider waiting to be negative. It promotes frustration, and make people angry. The common reaction of most people is that waiting is synonymous to wasting of precious time. But we must be reminded that patience and long suffering are commendable elements of the fruit of the spirit. Therefore, through God’s help, and with a determined heart, like Job, we can wait — especially if we take a cue from this text.
Quote for the Day: “When we let out hopes fluctuate, doubts set in and takes the root of our faith and shift off the base of our life’s enduring strength.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, weariness and impatience are enemies that weigh people down. Please give me the power to overcome these weaknesses. Give me strength to await your promise — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
With all my Love and Prayers,
