We Would See Jesus

Today’s Scripture Threshing for Wednesday, March 6, 2019

Today’s Text: John 12:20-26

Key Verse: John 12:21 (ESV): “So these came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and asked him, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.””

There was great crowds flooding the streets of Jerusalem the day Jesus descends the Mount of Olives unto the city. There was a joyful commotion as the crowd lay their clothes on the ground to give Him triumphant welcome. They’ve all gathered from far and near to observe the Passover Feast. One program brought them all, but diverse purpose, divergent passion, and different spirit. Jesus rode into the city in the Spirit of prophetic fulfillment as the true Passover Lamb. Many came to worship, but lack the spiritual ability to discover the true Passover Lamb. Some came as tourists. Yet others came to see the famous Galilean teacher who works miracles.

God has given each man physical and spiritual impulses which move and awaken us towards newness, or unto happier and higher goals, and motivate us towards purer good. Through this natural endowment we’re able to determine that the best this world gives is unsatisfying. Therefore, we desire more. That’s why true happiness is never in things. That is why, though, the Greeks tourists saw so much in Jerusalem that day, but yet have unquenchable eagerness for more. Hence, the attractiveness of Christ. They had heard so much of Jesus to induce them to seek personal encounter with Him. “Sir, we would see Jesus!” They said. We have heard so much about Moses and Father Abraham, now, we would see Jesus. Our acquaintance with religiosity has not satisfied our thirst, please show us Jesus. We don’t care what these great multitudes are seeing or would see; but for us, we would see Jesus.

O how great would it be if our generation would seek Jesus. How fantastic if preachers and gospel musicians of our generation would realize how forlorn people are with excellent religious environment, great presentations, and impeccable rhetorics that fail to satisfy men’s desire for personal encounter, closer knowledge and intimate fellowship with Jesus.

How great would it be if you would seek past those insatiable lusts but follow your innermost impulse for deeper and higher good. Our unquenchable longings could be satisfied today if we would seek Jesus. Acquaintance with religion does not avail, only a genuine personal knowledge that leads to relationship with Jesus as Lord and Savior does.

Quote for the Day: “Religiosity that fails to touch the heart is nothing but vanity. Christianity that fails to offer genuine hope in Christ is nothing but churchianity.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: LORD Jesus, please help me to seek and find you above earthly goods. Help me to seek you and find you. Give me true satisfaction that comes from seeking and knowing you.

With all my Love and Prayer,
