What I do Have I Give to You (Part Two)

Daily Scripture Threshing for Tuesday, February 27, 2024

Today’s Text: Acts 3:1-10

Key Verse: Acts 3:6 (NIV): "Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.”"

Today, we're refocusing on our yesterday's devotional point. God is speaking to the Church. Peter gave what he had, which was a gift proceeding from his faith. We too should give what we have. He did not have silver and gold, but we have some. Therefore, quiting the words of the apostle in that context would be to be unfaithful to both the text and the situation. God has blessed us with material resources, including silver and gold. Our giving should be proportionate to what we have been blessed with.

If lack of resources could not hold Peter back, why shouldn't abundance of resources spur us on. If Peter offered what he did have, as a demonstration of his faith and obedience. This teaches us that we should not focus on what we don't have but rather offer what we do have, and trust that God can use it for His purposes. While our limitations should never hold us back from giving and serving, our blessings should motivate us. When we should, we should rather find alternative ways to bless our world, just like Peter did.

Quote for the Day: “Never excuse yourself from giving based on what you lack, instead offer what you have, and trust that God will multiply it for His purpose." (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Dear God, I come before you with grateful hearts, thanking you for the blessings in my life. I ask that you help me to be a light in the world, and to use my gifts and talents to serve others. May my faith be strong and my hope be unwavering. I pray for those in need, and ask for your comfort and healing. May your will be done, and may we always seek to serve you — in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,

Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
