Daily Scripture Threshing for Saturday, April 25, 2020
Today’s Text: Judges 6:1-11
Key Verse: Judges 6:6 (NIV): "Midian so impoverished the Israelites that they cried out to the LORD for help.”

Nature surrounds us with so much lessons. Plants do not survive without the sunlight. Trees dry off when it’s water source is cut off. In like manner, humans cannot survive if and when the enabling hands of Jehovah is withdrawn from us. It is in Him we move and hold our being. This is true for Israel’s nation, and true for all men. We all need God for power. We need Him for existence, and in all ramifications.
However, this text shows us how our moral deflection cuts us off from the source. We see how God allowed Israel to be impoverished and reduced to a bunch of lackers in order to reset them back to Himself. We too become subject to what seems like spiritual pauperism, flaccidity and helplessness whenever we forsake God. But when we, like Israelites, cry out to the LORD for help, we are promised a radical return to the source of our strength.
Quote for the Day: "Men who despise the divine source are like living branches that are dead on their tree, being cut off from the water source.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: O Lord, You’re my only hope and strength. Help me to keep my relationship with you, in Jesus name. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, PhD
