Luke 8:22–25 (ESV)
Key Verse: Luke 8:25 (ESV) — “He said to them, ‘Where is your faith?’ And they were afraid, and they marveled, saying to one another, ‘Who then is this, that he commands even winds and water, and they obey him?’”*
Isn't it so easy for us to make bold confessions of faith today? But can we carefully look at our life in the face of adversity like Jesus' disciples. If we do, we'd find out that faith is not proven in calm moments but in crisis seas. It is when storms rage and waves rise that faith becomes our anchor — unseen yet unshakeable, holding fast when all else breaks loose. Our Lord's question, “Where is your faith?” pierces beyond panic and probes the posture of our trust. It exposes whether our confidence rests in circumstances or the Christ within the storm.
To answer this question rightly, we must recall His Word: He said, “Let us go over to the other side.” His command was not mere suggestion but assurance. The destination was secured the moment He spoke. That our journey is with the Lord or occasioned by him does not mean that storms would be absent. No, but what it assures us is the presence of the Savior who never fails. Fear fixates on the storm’s size; faith focuses on the Savior’s sovereignty.
Faith is not denial of danger but dependence on divine authority. It sees the wind yet chooses to see Christ more clearly. It refuses to interpret His silence as absence, knowing that even while sleeping, He remains Lord of every element. Real faith learns to rest when circumstances roar, trusting that the same Jesus who rebukes winds can calm wavering hearts. This question — “Where is your faith?” — invites us to relocate our confidence, to shift it from sight to Spirit, from panic to peace. Each storm becomes the classroom of trust, the proving ground of discipleship. God’s goal is not our comfort but our conviction; not survival, but surrender to His lordship.
Action Steps: In prayer, revisit Jesus' words to you — what promise has He already spoken? Anchor there. Confront one fear that has eclipsed your faith and lay it at His feet. Replace worry with worship; speak calm to your inner storm in His name. Encourage another believer facing turbulence, affirming that every storm still obeys His voice.
Quote for the Day: “Faith doesn’t silence storms; it steadies hearts until He does.” (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)
Let Us Pray: Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for being with me in every storm. Teach me to trust You not only when the seas are still but when winds howl against my peC ace. Forgive me for doubting Your presence and power. Today, I choose faith over fear, promise over panic, and trust over turmoil. Let my words, thoughts, and actions reveal confidence in Your sovereignty. As You calm the storms around me, strengthen the faith within me. In Your mighty name, Amen.
