Today's Text: Luke 22:39-46

Key Verse: Luke 22:42 (NIV): "Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done."

Have you ever visited a pottery studio? I can not forget my visit to Sarah's pottery studio, nestled in the rolling hills of Mendocino, California. It was an experience that truly deepened my appreciation for the art of ceramics. Sarah isn't just a potter; she's a storyteller, and her studio, a converted barn, was filled with the quiet narratives of clay. As I stepped inside, the scent of damp earth and wood smoke immediately enveloped me. Sunlight streamed through large windows, illuminating shelves overflowing with pieces in various stages of creation.

That visit was more than just a tour; it was a glimpse into a world where creativity, craftsmanship, and storytelling intertwine, leaving an indelible mark on my heart as an observer; that just as a potter molds clay, shaping it according to their design and purpose, we are called to yield our will to God's, allowing Him to shape our lives according to His divine plan. Surrendering to God's will is not about passively accepting fate but actively aligning our desires with His perfect wisdom and love. Of course, we surrender to God's will by acknowledging His sovereignty and trusting in His benevolent guidance. We demonstrate humility and obedience. We recognize that His ways are higher than our own, and act accordingly.

Today's text describes Jesus' time of intense prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane just before his arrest. In the company of His disciples, on Mount of Olives, as was his custom, He had instructed them to pray so that they will not fall into temptation. He withdrew a short distance from them, kneels down, and begins to pray, expressing deep anguish, asking the Father to "remove this cup from me" if it is possible. However, he quickly yielded to God's will, saying, "Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done." We believe in Jesus. He is the author and finisher of our faith. He exemplifies perfect submission to the Father's will, even in the face of immense suffering and agony. All of us who genuinely follow Him must strive to surrender our own desires and ambitions to God's divine purpose. It is by so doing that we demonstrate our trust and love for Him.

Just as the ckay is transformed in the potter's hands into a beautiful vessel, our surrender to God's will can transform our lives. That is the way we fulfill His purposes and experience true peace. Unfortunately, self-will, stubbornness, and a desire for control are robbing our generation of this blessing. Yielding to God's will requires faith and a willingness to let go of our own limited understanding. It requires striving to embrace God's plan with courage and trust, just as Jesus taught us. If and when more Christians surrender to God's will, we shall begin to experience true peace and a more genuine snd enduring blessing in our lives.

Action Steps: Take time to reflect on areas in your life where you are resisting, or wrestling with God's will. Surrender those areas to Him in prayer. Intentionally seek God's guidance through scripture, prayer, and wise counsel before making important decisions. When facing challenges or uncertainties, actively choose to trust in God's perfect plan, even if it's difficult.

Quote for the Day: "When we yield ourselves and wills to God like a clay in the potter's hands; that act of surrender allows God to mold us into His beautiful design." (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)

Let Us Pray: Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for Yor great and glorious purpose, will and loving guidance in my life. O today, I trust You to help me to surrender my will to Yours in every area of my life. Give me the faith and humility to trust in Your plan, and to be yielded to it fully — in Jesus's most glorious name. Amen.
