You are Royal

Daily Scripture Threshing for Today, Monday, June 1, 2026

Today’s Text: 1 Peter 2:9–10

Key Verse: 1 Peter 2:9 (ESV) — “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”

Happy new Month to you dear friend, God wants you to remember who you are as you journey another month. He does not merely rescue you from sin; He also renames you, repositions you, and crowns you with a glorious identity. In today’s text, Peter reminds believers that they are not spiritual leftovers, but a chosen race, a royal priesthood, and a people belonging to God. Royalty in Scripture is not first about rank or luxury, but about divine calling, covenant belonging, and the responsibility to reflect the character of the King. To be royal is to know that you were brought out of darkness for a purpose greater than survival.

The context matters: Peter is speaking to believers who may have felt scattered, small, or overlooked, yet he declares that heaven sees them differently. Their honor does not come from human status but from God’s mercy, who transformed them from “not a people” into “God’s people” and from “no mercy” into recipients of mercy. This means your royal identity is not earned by performance, but received by grace. When God calls you royal, He is not flattering you; He is revealing your true spiritual lineage and assignment.

To live as royal is to walk with dignity, holiness, and confidence in the presence of God. Royal children do not beg as though they have no Father, and they do not live in shame as though their bloodline is weak. Instead, they stand with reverence, serve with purpose, and speak with authority that comes from belonging to the King. The call to royalty is also a call to proclamation, because royal people are meant to display the goodness of the One who saved them.

Beloved, you are not common, forgotten, or discarded. You belong to God, and your life carries the beauty of His kingdom. What He has placed on you is not temporary decoration but covenant identity. Walk today like one who has been chosen, redeemed, and set apart for royal service.

Action Steps: Begin your day by thanking God for your identity in Christ rather than asking Him to prove your worth. Refuse every thought, habit, or relationship that trains you to live beneath your calling. Speak and behave with the dignity of one who belongs to the King. Let your decisions today reflect holiness, confidence, and gratitude for God’s mercy.

Quote for the Day: “Royalty is not the privilege of pride, but the grace of belonging to the King.”— (Simon Olatunji #quotablequotes)

Let Us Pray: Lord, thank You for making me Your own and calling me into royal identity through Christ. Deliver me from every trace of shame, fear, and spiritual inferiority. Teach me to walk as one chosen, holy, and set apart for Your glory. Let my life proclaim Your excellencies and reflect the honor of belonging to You. In Jesus’ most glorious name. Amen.
