You Moved Your Cheese

Daily Scripture Threshing for Sunday, April 24, 2022

Today Text: John 2:1-11

Key Verse: John 2:10 (ESV): “And said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now.”

For five weeks, the Lord moved me to lead the House of Prayer Evangel Church through the five basic lessons of Who Moved My Cheese? by Spencer Johnson. It was such a time of refreshing as we all had to read portions of the book and come each week to share how it illustrates the importance of being able to deal with unexpected changes in our lives. We were able to relate the ideas of Mr. Johnson with how Jesus takes what’s old and obsolete from our lives, and fills it with new life, vitality and meaning. He (Jesus) gives us abundant life that will forever alter the way we live. Many Christians know the Lord enough to cry out loud to Him when life cheeses are stale but do not know Him enough to actually trust Him to take the initial lead. At Cana of Galilee, we may learn the wisdom of not leaving the Lord in a redundant corner. To continue to enjoy freshness, we must give Jesus His due place in our lives. In Christ, or with Him, there’s always the new wine — or if you like, cheese — to be found if we are willing to go back to Jesus and humbly admit that what distracts us from Him is gone, and that we now need Him to be the Master and give us the new wine.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank You because I know that You want to give me a glorious new life. Pleas, teach me to be willing to let You have Your way always — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
