You Shall Receive Power

Daily Scripture Threshing for Today, Monday, July 20, 2026

Today’s Text: Acts 1:4–8

Key Verse: Acts 1:8 (ESV) — “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses...”

God knows and understands the weakness and futility of the han strength, and does not call us to serve Him in our own strength. Yes, we.need to be physically fit to serve Him, we must live and labor under the enabling power of His Holy Spirit. The Christian life is not built on mere enthusiasm, talent, or determination; no.matter how strong, the arms of fless will always surely fail us. We must be energized by divine empowerment.

The kingdom of God is not in words but in power. Our Lord Jesus Christ dud not merely give His disciples instructions; He promised them power. That power was not for show. No. It is not for self-exaltation, or spiritual pride, but for witness, obedience, and Kingdom effectiveness. The same Lord who calls us also equips us. He never sends His children empty-handed.

What dies “you shall receive power” means for us today. We are in a world of power. An age of survival of the fittest: where power factors matter, and God intends more for us than survival, and more than religious activity. It means strength for living, courage for bold witness, wisdom for decision-making, grace for fruitful service, and anointing to break yokes. When the Holy Spirit comes upon a believer, weakness does not have the final word.

This power does not make us independent of God; it makes us more dependent on Him. It is the power to speak when fear would silence us, to stand when pressure would shake us, and to love when offense would harden us. The Spirit’s power is not noise; it is life, holiness, and impact. As a child of God, do not settle for a powerless faith. Wait on the Lord, yield to the Spirit, and walk in the confidence that He has already provided what He commands. When the Holy Spirit fills a life, that life becomes a testimony of Jesus Christ to the world.

Action Steps: Spend time today asking the Holy Spirit to fill you afresh. Identify one area where fear or weakness has limited your witness and surrender it to God. Take one bold step of obedience that reflects trust in the Spirit’s enabling power.

Let Us Pray: Lord Jesus, You promised that I would receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon me. Fill me afresh with Your Spirit and make me bold, holy, and fruitful for Your glory. Deliver me from empty effort and teach me to live by divine enablement. Let my life testify of Christ in word and in deed. In Your powerful name I pray. Amen.
