Today’s Text: Psalm 105:9–22
Key Verse: Psalm 105:15 (ESV) — “Saying, ‘Touch not my anointed ones, do my prophets no harm!’”

I have a green-bush hedge in my front yard. It's so thick and thorny you can't get through. This is so good yet is no way a comparison to divine hedge. God sets a holy hedge around those He has chosen, not because they are flawless, but because they belong to Him. In the story of David and Saul, we see that David had opportunity to strike the one who was trying to destroy him, yet he refused to lift his hand against the Lord’s anointed. This is a powerful reminder that divine calling carries divine protection, and human anger must never rush ahead of God’s timing.
In today’s text, Saul is actively pursuing David, yet David chooses reverence over revenge. He will not seize the throne through violence, nor will he attempt to defend his destiny through fleshly retaliation. Instead, he entrusts his case to the God who appointed him. Psalm 105:15 captures this principle with weight and clarity: “Touch not my anointed ones, do my prophets no harm.” The verse is not a license for pride; it is a warning against violating what God has marked as His own.
This truth is especially important in seasons of misunderstanding, criticism, jealousy, and unjust opposition. God’s anointed may be opposed, but they are not abandoned. The Lord knows how to vindicate, preserve, and establish those whom He has called. Even when people mishandle them, God still watches over His covenant purpose. The safest place for the believer is not in self-defense, but in obedient surrender to divine covering.
No harm for God’s anointed means more than physical safety; it includes protection of purpose, preservation of assignment, and the restraint of every evil hand stretched against God’s will. It also reminds us to handle one another with reverence, especially those set apart for service, because God takes seriously what belongs to Him. When we honor God’s chosen vessels, we honor the God who chose them. And when we leave judgment in His hands, we keep our own hearts free from bitterness and strife.
Action Steps: Search your heart for any spirit of resentment, retaliation, or unhealthy suspicion toward those God has placed in authority. Choose restraint where revenge would feel easier. Pray for divine protection over your calling, your family, and every servant of God under attack. Walk today in confidence, humility, and reverence, trusting God to defend what He has anointed.
Quote for the Day: “What God has anointed, He has also appointed for His keeping; no enemy’s conspiracy can cancel divine bureaucracy.” — (Simon Olatunji #quotablequotes)
Let Us Pray: Lord, thank You for placing Your hand upon Your people and keeping watch over those whom You have anointed. Deliver me from vengeance, bitterness, and every impulse to fight in the flesh. Teach me to trust Your timing, honor Your authority, and walk in the protection of Your purpose. Shield every calling and every servant under Your care, and let no harm prevail against what You have marked as Yours. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
