Today’s Text: 1 Chronicles 4:1-10
Key Verse: 1 Chronicles 4:10 (KJV): “And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.”
Friends, just look around you, and you will find out how amazingly blessed you are with immeasurably great blessings God at your disposal. God has graciously blessed you, everyone, and indeed, every creature. The moon is blessed with a class of glory and the Sun with its kind. Blessed as she was, the Queen of Sheba, saw and hallowed God’s blessing of wisdom on Solomon. Yet God’s word tells us that even Solomon in all his glory was not blessed like Lillies and Sparrows.
This means that our God has in store untold realm of blessings for each one of His children, which, if we ask of Him, He is willing and able to lavish on us severally and liberally. Jabez set us an example of how we too can break away from our lives’ status quo through prayer. Most of us are simply not availing ourselves of this opportunity. Instead, many of us grumble and mumble about things—that God has already promised.
He (Jabez) took an exemption and exception in his generation: exemption is an exclusion from the consequences of a situation, while an exception is an exclusion from the situation itself. So, we too can. But we must first understand the God we serve. We must know and believe His promises for us. We must stop grunting and grumbling: God already knew what enemies have done to us. But He wants to be sure we trust what He (God) can do for us. Jabez took exception from evil. He disdained his wretchedness. He left them at the foot of the mercy seat in pursuit of what God can do. He asked for God’s blessings, and by so doing obtained a more honorable testimony.
Quote for the Day: “The only anvil sufficient to break the cycle of the curse in any life and pass him into abundant blessing is a mon’s soul-sincere-cry to God.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, please do not allow any circumstance, any curse, any force, or any person, to hold me back from Your blessing, favor, and purpose for my life. Bless me indeed by your mercy— in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
