Daily Scripture Threshing for Saturday, October 3, 2020
Today’s Text: Mark 4:35-41
Key Verses: Mark 4:35 (KJV) — “And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.”
The story of wearied and terrified disciples here is a typical family album in which we may all find our postures and portraits. Sometimes, we pose like supermen but whenever we are faced with the reality of life, or our discipleship, we are reminded of just one thing here: that we are never alone. Weariness is common to all mankind, but the desire to seek and find the solace that God alone can give us the what defiles the common sense.
I have lost touch with the source; but I remember coming across a write-up that holds that we may all gain a heart-bath in perfect peace if and when we learn the power of escaping to the secret place of the most high. Jesus is teaching us here how not to burn-out and die out. He invites His disciples to a silent, serene wilderness, where they may renew strength for their weary souls and body. On this journey of faith, the road may not be all-smooth or rough; there may no fish and bread miracles everyday. Some day there are that stilling storms would rage or the gentle savior will be quiet. Some days will come when He will seem to be so far or nowhere. And some days it feels like He’s sleeping. But the strength needed for those days, and more, would have been gathered when we yield the call to come apart.
