God’s “Let” Diary (Part 43) — Let the Redeemed of the Lord Say So

Daily Scripture Threshing for Thursday, July 23, 2020

Today’s Text: Psalm 107:1-8

Key Verses: Psalms 107:2 (KJV): “Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy.”

Like Israel was redeemed from the bondage of Egypt and from all enemies on their journey through the wilderness; all believers in Christ have been redeemed from the bondage of sin and all the entanglements of this present age. Apart from the salvation of our souls, we have numerous grounds of redemption in our lives. In our journey through life, we are redeemed day by day from various forms of evil just like Israel was redeemed throughout their wilderness-journey. David would not have us hide God’s goodness. He encourages us to proclaim the wonderful act of redemption of the God who redeems our lives from destruction; and crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies (Psalm 103:2–4). This invitation must not be taken for granted by anyone. We all must declare your allegiance to the One who redeemed us.

All goodnesses we have enjoyed are already enough reasons for testimony. However, there is one blessed redemption that stands above all, of which David calls us to testify. We are the redeemed of the Lord from the laws of sin and death. No other redemption in all history could compare the soul-redemption. Therefore, if you have experienced this redemption by a personal encounter of Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you are called to say so. It’s a call to leap in joyful testimony of your redemption. You should proclaim it before the world. Don’t you be ashamed to say that you are redeemed. It is God’s grace in your life — say it! It is a trust unto you — tell the world of it. It is the power of God unto salvation — don’t be ashamed to say it! Howbeit, God forbid that you are unable to say so: “I’m redeemed!” It is not too late. Ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins, and make you right before Him. Declare your trust in what He has done for you on the cross and through His resurrection. Tell Him you no longer rely on yourself but only on Him; and receive Him as Lord of your life from this day forward. And you too can say: “I’m redeemed.

Quote for the Day: "Salvation comes with such confidence as conviction in what Jesus Christ has done so much that you can no longer bring yourself anymore to doubt Him.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Lord, I’m thankful for all the phases and faces of your redemptive acts in my life. Help me to continue to be a living testimony of redemption, in Jesus name. Amen.

With all my love and prayer,
