Today’s Text: Exodus 16:13-31
Key Verse: Exodus 16:29 (ESV): “See! The Lord has given you the Sabbath; therefore on the sixth day he gives you bread for two days. Remain each of you in his place; let no one go out of his place on the seventh day.”

Some Jews and Christian sects take this text absolutely literally. But we must recapture the true spiritual import of this divine “let no one go out of his place.” It is a foreshadow of man’s True Sabbath — the personification of rest which no man may achieve by any rat race. God wants man to learn to trust Him rather trust in their strength and wisdom. He wants us to give up our self made race, and walk in His grace. The difference between the races we run and the graces we walk in is the “G” factor — and that factor is God. He is able to take care of things that make us anxious. This is how not to miss the spiritual dimension to this unique divine “let.”
By a wind from the Lord, heavy-bodied migrant quails were blown toward them, and covered their camp with no efforts of their own. It’s easy for us to be ignorant of the Lord’s provision while we are soaked in the rat race for materials and money. But God wants us to realize that there is still rest for His people. When the Israelites first saw the manna, they did not know what it was, and Moses had to tell them that it is the Lord’s provision. In the same way, God provides every single day, for us, but except we rest in Him and on His word, we may not realize, recognize or discern His provision. This is a deep spiritual test of human attitude: a challenge to trust God, and give Him space — for except we learn to do these, how shall we in turn give God all the glory!
Quote for the Day: "The difference between the races we run and the graces we walk in is the “G” factor — and that factor is God.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, teach me to rest upon the assurance that you have made my lot secure; the boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; and I surely have a delightful inheritance, in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
