God’s “Let” Diary (Part 89) — Let Your Light So Shine

Daily Scripture Threshing for Friday, September 11, 2020

Today’s Text: Matthew 5:13 -16

Key Verses: Matthew 5:16 (KJV) — “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

The void caused by darkness in the beginning of time and creation already foreshadows our world’s present state. What void could be more notorious, or emptiness more grave than the systemic and moral darkness we are having to live with everyday? Darkness of bloodletting, sexual perversion, and corrupt religiosity— all give evidence to the world that Isaiah saw during his Messianic vision. “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.” He said. (Isaiah 9:2)

It world faces spectacular situations that place us in the heart of Isaiah’s vision today. 19 years today we mark the 2001 infamy of terrorists destruction of the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. The dark smokes of that devastating tragedy still darkens our clouds today. It has even been worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic, our reckless moral decline, and by brutalities and hates. But it was a dark world indeed when the star of Bethlehem appeared to light up the whole world. The light of Christ rose and streamed forth both to reveal as well as overcome darkness. And it has pleased Him to elect you and I who believe in Him to continue to shine that light to our darkened world. Light reveals and defeats darkness; and if we will let our light so shine, the clouds shall clear and many shall realize how lost they are. Light quickens. If we let it so shine, many shall come to the light of Christ; and this will result in the glory of God.

Quote for the Day: "Christians are the sunbeam of Christ. By our life and doctrines we dispel every darkness.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Dear Lord, please help us to be the light of Christ that shine and give light, courage and hope in the darkness of our broken world, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers, I stand with all my American friends and readers peace today, and pray God’s comfort to those who miss their loved ones as we mark the 19th year of 9/11.
