God's Workshop of Glory

Daily Scripture Threshing for Today, Sunday, November 2, 2025

Today's Text: John 9:1-11, 24-25, 30-41

Key Verse: John 9:3 (ESV) "Jesus answered, “It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him."

In the account of the man born blind, we find a powerful testimony that speaks beyond physical restoration to the spiritual revelation of God's glory through what we endure. Jesus, walking by, encounters a man blind from birth. The disciples ask if sin caused this affliction, yet Jesus reveals that the man’s blindness was never a punishment but a divine opportunity that the works of God should be made manifest in him. This reminds us that many of our trials and hardships are not random misfortunes but permitted by God for His eternal purpose—to glorify Himself on earth.

We have a lot to learn from this man’s healing. From the picture of transformation that unfolds in spiritual illumination to his obedience of Jesus’ command to wash in the pool of Siloam that brought the miracle of sight, everything symbolizes how God's glory often reveals itself after we step out in faith amid confusion or suffering. Like this man, many of us face challenges that seem like limitations or curses; but what we all need is, first, the illumination of our eyes that some of our life's challenges serve as vessels for God's power and glory to breakthrough. We also learn that if only we trust and obey the Master's direction, we'd see the glory of God.

Rarely do we understand God’s purpose in our trials fully at the moment; we, like the healed man, may not even know where Jesus is in the midst of our struggle. People who adjudge us are as blinded to our spiritual realities: if not more blind. But, regardless, it is precisely through faith, illumination and revelation that our story becomes a witness. The healed man’s testimony confronts disbelief and hardened hearts, teaching us today that God’s glory is made known in situations humans may judge as shameful or hopeless.

Our sufferings and struggles are forms of participation in the unveiling of Christ’s light to a world in darkness. Indeed, as believers, we are called to see our difficulties through this lens: not primarily as pain but as God’s workshop for His glory. Every trial, every hardship, every moment of endurance is an opportunity for God's power to be displayed, for faith to grow, and for our lives to witness to His goodness and sovereignty. The glory of God is the ultimate aim that turns our darkness into light and our brokenness into wholeness.

Action Steps: Reflect on your current trials and seek God's presence within them. Ask, "How might God be using this to display His glory?" Surrender your hardships to Him and trust His purposes beyond your understanding. Be ready to testify of His faithfulness as He works transformation in your life. Let the light of God’s glory shine through your testimony in both word and conduct.

Quote for the Day: "Our trials are the canvas on which God paints His purpose so that the masterpiece of His glory may emerge through us." (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)

Let Us Pray: Sovereign Lord, I thank You for sending this encouragement. I confess that, sometimes, I struggle to understand why I face trials and hardships. Teach me to see through Your eyes—that these difficulties are not defeat but opportunities for Your glory to be revealed in my life. Help me to trust Your perfect purposes and to obey Your direction, even when the path is unclear. May my life be a testimony of Your power and grace, and may Your name be exalted through every trial. To Your glory alone, I submit my journey—in Jesus’ name. Amen.
