Daily Scripture Threshing for Saturday, May 30, 2020
Today’s Text: John 9:1-4
Key Verse: John 9:2 (ESV): “And his disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?””

Jesus and His disciples saw the same man; but not through the same eyes and spirit. The difference between their perspectives was not the God/man difference because Jesus was also truly man; but the difference was born out of character. Like many of us today, Christ’s earliest disciples saw this sufferer and it was their opportunity to backlash or potential for a theological argument. But it was an opportunity for Jesus Christ to glorify God. Whereas His disciples had been with Him all the way, they were still following with sensual perceptions, the Lord saw beyond the physical that what’s really going on in this man’s life is a work of God, and an opportunity to give Him glory.
Like Christ, we all have precise work to do on earth, and a sensual mindset of things and people is too much distraction from it. Every God-given assignment has it’s precise timing and termination. Therefore, we can’t afford to let the devil engage us with wrong mission by beclouding our sight of people. The opportunity to glorify God may pass us by if we fail to see what Christ sees in our neighbors, friends, coworkers, acquaintances and others. Yes, we are already His disciples; but we must remember Philippians 2:5 which admonishes us that “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus.”
Quote for the Day: "A blind man sees darkness; and a man with open wounds attract flies.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Lord, repair my vision and give me a heart for your kingdom, in Jesus name. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
