Daily Scripture Threshing for Today, .Monday, January 19, 2026
Texts: Luke 10:17-20
Key Verse: Luke 10:19 (ESV) — “Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy…”
Spiritual authority is not arrogance; it is the believer’s right and responsibility to enforce Christ’s victory. In a year of waxing very strong, strength that does not exercise authority becomes prey to oppression. To wax stronger in spiritual authority is to recognize who you are in Christ and where you are seated with Him. Authority is not shouting; it is standing in revealed identity.
Spiritual authority is therefore rooted in submission to God. You cannot resist the devil effectively if you are resisting God silently. Waxing stronger in authority this year means aligning with God’s will, so that your “no” to the enemy carries weight. It begins with revelation—you are raised with Christ, seated with Him far above principalities and powers.
As you grow in this revelation, fear of the enemy will decrease and faith in Christ’s finished work will increase. To wax stronger in spiritual authority is to use the name of Jesus with understanding, plead His blood with faith, and wield His Word with conviction. There are patterns of oppression and harassment that must bow when you stand in your rightful position. This year, authority will require you to resist temptations, rebuke evil influences, and declare God’s counsel boldly over your life and territory.
Be ready to say “no” to the devil and “yes” to God consistently. When the enemy attacks your mind, family, or assignments, remember that you are not helpless. When you feel intimidated, turn your eyes again to Christ’s throne, not the enemy’s threats. Waxing stronger in spiritual authority means living less as a victim and more as an ambassador of the King.
Action Steps: Today, pause and ask: “Lord, where have I been tolerating what I should be resisting?” Identify areas of repeated oppression, temptation, or fear. In prayer, submit afresh to God, then verbally resist the enemy in the name of Jesus and declare God’s Word over that situation.
Quote for the Day: “Spiritual authority is identity in action. As you stand where Christ has seated you, you will wax stronger in victory and break the enemy’s grip.” — (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)
Let Us Pray: Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for triumphing over the enemy and sharing Your authority with me. Deliver me from ignorance and fear. Teach me to submit to God, resist the devil, and enforce Your victory daily. Let every oppression over my life and family bow this year, in Your mighty name, Lord Jesus, Amen.
