20 Survival Strategy During Winter Alerts

Greetings, love and Regard, beloved:

I hope this message finds you well. I am simply sending you a friendly and gentle advisory just make sure that you protect yourself and be safe during this winter alerts.

We serve the God of all seasons. Genesis 8:22 says, “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” Job 37:9 says, “Out of the south comes the storm, and out of the north the cold.” Therefore, in order to be like the virtuous woman of Proverbs 31:21 who is not afraid of the snow for her household, for all her household are clothed with scarlet; I have carefully put the following tips together on how to protect yourself, home, loved ones and property during these type of weather conditions:

  1. Dress warm. Layering is crucial and is the best way to dress in winter. Invest in long coats. Embrace wool. Fashion is not as important now as functional accessories.

  2. Winterize your home if you could. Install weather stripping, insulation, and storm windows.

  3. Always ensure you have extra food and water. High energy food, such as dried fruit or candy, and food requiring no cooking or refrigeration is best.

  4. Having medicine or extra supplies and first-aid supplies and supplements are advised.

  5. Most homes don’t have or keep this, but emergency heating source, such as a fireplace, wood stove, space heater, etc are advised. But you must learn to use properly to prevent a fire. Have proper ventilation; and never use a gas range or oven to heat your home.

  6. Test units regularly to ensure they are working properly.

  7. Drip your faucets in cold weather to prevent your pipes from freezing. Running water through the pipe—even at a trickle helps prevent pipes from freezing. It takes about six hours for insulated pipes to freeze in temperatures between 20 and 32 degrees.

  8. Get your car ready for cold weather. There are winter tires if you could afford them: check tire tread or, if necessary, replace tires with all-weather or snow tires, or reduce your circulation.

  9. Remember to install antifreeze in your car cooling unit, and maintain the level.

  10. Service your radiator; Keep an emergency kit in your car including blankets, food and water, first aid, and other items you may need if you are stranded.

  11. Be at alert and prepared for weather-related emergencies, including power outages. Keep flashlight and extra batteries. keep battery-powered NOAA Weather Radio and portable radio to receive emergency information to ensure you always maintain links to the outside world and reports.

  12. Prevent CO poisoning. Install a CO detector and check that it has a working battery. Also, keep fire extinguisher and smoke detector.

  13. Have your heating system checked by a qualified professional.

  14. Take precaution when spending time outdoors. Wear appropriate outdoor clothing and be aware of the wind chill factor.

  15. Check weather reports, telling someone where you are going to be (if long drive or ice fishing).

  16. Always have a fully charged cellphone and carry a portable recharger, if possible.

  17. Be aware of current and forecast weather conditions when planning for travel.

  18. Learn how to avoid, spot, and treat frostbite and hypothermia.

  19. If you have pets, bring them inside. If you cannot bring them inside, provide adequate, warm shelter and unfrozen water to drink.

  20. And lastly, PRAY! The Bible tells us to “Pray that your flight may not be in winter or on a Sabbath.“ (Matthew 24:20).

I leave these things for you, friends, in the spirit of 3 John 1:2 with all my love and utmost desire for you to prosper in everything and be in health.
