Daily Scripture Threshing for Tuesday, May 24, 2022
Today Text: 1 Timothy 4:11-16
Key Verse: 1 Timothy 4:12 (KJV): “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”
The calling of a Christian or a Christian minister is such a delicate task. Anyone who professes to be an ambassador of another must clothe himself with the dignity that befits the nobility, civility and dignity of the one he represents in the courts of another. As ambassadors of Jesus Christ, we represent all that Christ represents. We are held to the same standards and expectations as He. The expectation is not just placed upon us by watching world; but by the word of the Lord.
The apostle admonishes us to be exemplary in words. It is important that those who listen to our conversation are able to determine the kingdom we represent. Not only that, but we are also to stand out and show Christlike examples in charity—i.e., in every aspect of love to God and humanity. We are called to be total and whole. Our sphere of influence must also show in our practice and display of spirituality. That’s what the apostle means by “in spirit.” By this, we must perfume our atmosphere or surroundings with Christ’s life, with faith that is demonstrated in obedience to the gospel; and a life of purity and blamelessness. If your desire is to be the savor of life, an ornament of faith and an admiration to the world, which men cannot despise but honor; then you must be exemplary believer who guides his dignity with all diligence.

Prayer: Dear Lord, You who is perfect in all Your ways, please help me to live above board. Let my character be exemplary showing integrity in leadership, honesty in business, and honor in relationships — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
