Be Strong

Daily Scripture Threshing for Today, Tuesday, September 2, 2025

Today's Text: Joshua 1:1-11

Key Verse: Joshua 1:9 (ESV): "Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."

The world is like a vast, unknown territory, stretched before us. Every day we face both promises and perils. We face ups and downs. There are sunshines some days, but there are clouds at some other. These are also true of the challenges faced by Joshua as he prepares to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land, and they are true for each of us as we shape life through difficult global terrains. The weight of our responsibilities could be crushing, but God's command to Joshua is the same to us. And, it's simple and profound: Be strong and courageous.

As we face our different challenges each day, let us know that that call to be strong is not a call to rely on our own power. No. Rather, it is a call to find strength in the unwavering presence of God. This introduces us to the context of Joshua. There is no doubt that people go through hardship. Yes, but it is also true that people have exhibited great faith, and enjoyed divine assurance when they stand strong in the Lord.

The Bible is replete with promises of God's sustaining power in times of trouble. Just as a mighty oak stands firm against a storm, we are called to stand firm in our faith, rooted in His promises. Our strength isn't our own; it's a gift from God who never leaves us. Unfortunately, the allure of self-reliance and the fear of failure often cause us to waver. True strength comes from acknowledging our weaknesses and leaning on God's omnipotence.

As believers, we must strive to face life's battles with a courage that is born of faith, not of a lack of fear. We can have a deeper impact on the world when we demonstrate a quiet confidence in God, showing others where our true power lies. We can be strong and face life's battles with courage born of faith. We can trust in God's strength and not our own. We can soar to any height of victory in the wings of quiet confidence in God. By being strong in Jesus, we can persevere through challenges. We can inspire others with our unwavering faith. We can, by it, show the world where true strength lies.

Action Steps: Be intentional about anchoring your faith in God's promises. This could be as simple as committing Joshua 1:9 to heart and reciting it in moments of doubt. When faced with a challenging situation, take a moment to pause and pray for God's strength and guidance. Put your trust in His sovereignty and lean on His grace. Pray for others who are facing trials, asking God to strengthen them and fill them with His courage.

Quote for the Day: "True strength is tested by pain, fear, and danger. If you give up, your strength is small. But if you move forward in faith despite all odds, then great is your strength." (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)

Let Us Pray: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unwavering presence and constant strength by your word. Give me the strength and courage to face life's challenges, and help me to trust in Your promises. Please help me to always remember that You are with me, wherever I go. Give me strength and help me stay strong in Your will — in Jesus's most glorious name. Amen.
