Today’s Text: Philippians 4:10-20
Key Verse: Philippians 4:13 (KJV) — “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”
All the devil intends to do is to stop you from what God wants you to be, both in time and eternity. He knows what God has done for us all, and is determined to stop us from enjoying it. His best tactic is to stop us from believing in God. A seven-year-old boy loves drawing pictures. His talent was unmatched but his parents disliked his interest and sought to disengage him from drawing. They feared that he will grow up very prideful over his uniqueness, or that the career may not be a noble goal. So they discouraged him by discrediting his drawings as not very good at all so that he should stop drawing. After ten years, one of his teachers discovered he’s got a real gift. But Billy, because of his parents’ lies, he had a hard time believing he does. For ten years, his parents have told him a lie.
God believes in you; yes, and so does the devil also. God says you can move any mountain and do all things because he believes in you. The devil says you can’t do anything because he believes the only way to stop you from doing it is to lie to you. But God wants you to know who you are. He taught Moses to discover the extraordinary in him — yes, even in his staff. When Gideon was believing he was weak, God saw weakness. Until you believe what God says about you; you will continue to cower under limitations. Paul, in this text, is charging us to declare our capability through Christ. Such language of faith May resemble a boastful presumption; but no, it is the audacity of faith. So long as our ground of confidence is not in ourselves, but in Christ, it is a legitimate declaration of faith in Christ; and a consciousness of who you are.
Quote for the Day: “Feebleness in a Christian life is both a choice or a misplaced right when he already has a right to the strength Christ gives.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Lord, by your strength, I refuse to succumb to pressures of life that seek to push me into a corner, rendering me helpless to move forward. I am enabled in Jesus' name. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
