Today’s Text: Psalm 32:1-11

Key Verse: Psalm 32:1 (ESV): “Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven,

whose sin is covered.”

On the night of July 1, 2021, through the early hours of the second day, I was floating on a scary body of water that really threatened to claim my life. It was a deadly flood that hit our city. Show me a man who has ever almost drowned or known someone who has been in that position, and I will show you how really frightening it is to be in that situation. The most probable human reflex is an inner and outer struggle and a feeling that all hope is lost. But when God sent an angel to rescue me, I felt an extraordinary breath of hope and gratitude that nothing in

My widest imagination may be likened to. To you, I may offer this assurance, today, that you and I are more blessed than we realized.

The same feeling is true when the grip of unworthiness or sin threatens our confidence: when our accusers rail at us and all the strength of our religious confessions seem attacked and weakened. The spiritual position of any sinner in this situation is worse than floating on a life-threatening flood. Faith is usually so quickly swept for the running current of doubts. Then clouds of dust of darkness so easily settle on such souls. That was probably how David felt until a new light of being forgiven sparked for him upon his confession of sin. Nothing could better describe the feeling than the single word: “blessed.” Friends, you don’t have to be swept off your feet anymore. Our God has already blessed us in the heavenly realms (including heavenly places and things) with every spiritual blessing in Christ. Let somebody say: "I’m blessed!”

Quote for the Day: “Being blessed in Jesus Christ is in all cases. In nominative: Christ is identified as our source of blessing. In accusative: we are the blessed, the direct object of His blessings. In genitive: our blessings is of God through Christ and flows from Him. And in dative: our sphere, location and realm of blessing in, from, by and with Christ.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for Your overflowing and unmistakable blessings in my life. Please help Lord to continue to live a life that give proofs Your blessings and glory— in Jesus’ name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,

Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D
