Embracing Life's Twists by Faith

Daily Scripture Threshing for Monday, April 29, 2024

Today’s Text: Romans 8:26-30

Key Verse: Romans 8:28 (ASV): "And we know that to them that love God all things work together for good, even to them that are called according to his purpose."

Coming from several remarkable experiences, Apostle Paul is able to say that "all things work together for good to them that love God." He had suffered because of his love to God and his truth. He had been imprisoned, he had been stoned, he had been beaten with stripes; and suffered adversity among brethren, and yet by this confession and several others, he teaches us that we can embrace life's twists with faith in the Lord Jesus.

Our attitude matters in everything. Two people can be on a roller coaster ride. One person can hold on tight and scream in fear, while the other person can raise his hands in excitement and trust. And yes, indeed, for each believer, life can be likened to a roller coaster, full of ups, downs, and unpredictable twists. We crave control, but it's an illusion, becausewe never have it. No one does. Even the rich and the powerfuls do not have control. Money can answer quite a lot of things but not in the days of sickness or death. Go visit an hospital, and you may see how one unexpected event can expose people's lack of control.

However, it is in such moments that we discover the joy of trusting God's faithfulness. He is always in control, guiding us toward His desired end. When we release our grip on control and trust God, we can find peace and enjoy the journey. It doesn't mean troubles disappear, but with faith in God's and confidence in His sovereignty, we can relax and trust the ride.

As we close today's meditation, please note that it is not all men that are entitled to such a happy way of looking at the events of life. No. Not many peoplecan embrace hope and faith during life'stwiists. It is a joy given only to them that love God, whom are called according to His purpose. So, where are you in life's struggles? Are you clinging to control, or will you surrender and embrace God's faithfulness? Remember, God is working everything out for the good of those who love Him, even when the ride gets rough.

Quote for the Day: "Part of what makes a believer in Christ is his willingness to trust God in the midst of frustration and fear." (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, help me release my need for control and trust in Your faithfulness. May I find peace and joy in the journey, knowing You are always guiding me toward Your desired end — in Jesus's most glorious name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,

Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
