Today’s Text: Romans 13:1-7
Key Verses: Romans 13:12 (KJV) — “The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.“

Why are we always looking on the dark side of things? Why do we maximize more on negatives than positives? Why do we still back the excess luggages of Adamic seed? We sometimes don’t have easy answers to these and many other questions, but our text this morning helps us in a most unique way: to give up that which belongs to the past. The text charges us to shed off the eyes of flesh that see no traces of the breaking day. It is our charge to pass from the side of darkness to light. Brethren, night may tarry, and weepings with it, but it is not always night; the day comes. Indeed, night is far spent; and the day is nearer than we think. And just as all works that has to do with darkness fade in the wake of light; we must cast off things that belong to the dark. We are called not just to walk in the light; but also to shine in the brightness of light.
The Apostle Paul had tested the odious clouds of darkness and resisted the light. But He had encountered the supremacy of light on his way to Damascus. Therefore, he admonishes all of us to cast off every shades and clouds of the night. We are not children of the night. We belong to the light. No matter what represents our night: be it the dark days of pandemic, the secrecy of sin, the pain of poverty, the sorrow of bereavement, and the hour of sickness; none of these should cast its shadow on us. Rather, we should cast them off and give up odious works of darkness. Today’s admonition is for us to cast off everything that will not bear the light, to have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness. "The day of the Lord is at hand. But how shall we abide therein if we do not make ourselves ready?!
Quote for the Day: “A Christian is called to shed the force of night, which is shame; and shine the force of light, which is grace.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, I stand for light; and refuse to allow the devil and any appearance of darkness to control my thoughts anymore, in Jesus' name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
