God’s “Let” Diary (Part 162) — Let Us Not Be Weary in Well Doing

Daily Scripture Threshing for Sunday, December 13, 2020

Today’s Text: Galatians 6:6-10

Key Verses: Galatians 6:9 (KJV) — “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

Aren't we all so tried and faced with weariness of all sorts? I don't know about you; but sometimes I feel like there is just too much to deal with that wearies the soul and, often time, the body. People react to weariness in different ways; and we also have different thresholds of resilience. While some people are weary of having no job; some are weary of working too many jobs. Some are weary of living unmarried lives; other of keeping married. Weariness has no face, no limits and no shame. All people grow weary. But I am praying for every believer today that every contradictory tide that is replacing your zest and promoting exhaustion in any spiritual or physical good work in your life is hereby receded and forced to a stop, in Jesus name.

God's purpose is for us to continue to increase in every good work; and not to decrease. Anything that promotes weariness in us is not of or from God. But except we know and hold firmly to this truth, the lure of our unwilling flesh is already our easy draft into a weary mode. Apostle Paul entreats us not to allow weariness in well-doing. It is important we understand that weariness is a feeling, not an active reduction of vigor. For instance, some weariness come after a race, an accomplishment, or a work out and you're tired, That is a feeling but a good one because you have done well; and though your body is weary, you’re spurred to do more. This text is speaking against the feeling of exhaustion and the urge to quit. We must never let the grace for well-doing stop to blossom in us. Our moods may vary as humans, but the aroma of life and grace in us must continue to perfume our world ceaselessly.

Quote for the Day: “A too often willing spirit plus an equally as much or more weary flesh is a mark of a life that is not being controlled by the Holy Spirit.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Lord, help me to trust you more, to never waste time spinning my wheels and wrestling or fighting in my strength. Please encourage me in moments of weariness, and fill me with the Power of your Holy Spirit, in Jesus name. Amen.

I wish you a happy Sunday with all my love and prayers,

Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, PhD
