God’s “Let” Diary (Part 163) — Let No Man Trouble Me

Daily Scripture Threshing for Monday, December 14, 2020

Today’s Text: Galatians 6:11-18

Key Verses: Galatians 6:17(KJV) — “From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.

From the time of the Median and Persian rule, to the Barbarian tribes of the days of Paul, marking or tattooing the body of persons to indicate ownership or identification was a common practice. It is a practice in which the name or brand of a master is burnt or carved on his slave. This is called stigmata, brands or marks in the New Testament. It is in the same sense that our most honored apostle here regards himself as Christ’s branded servant. To him, no higher honor can any Christian aspire than to be known as marked or owned by Christ. This is a clear metaphor of the Christian living. We belong to, and live for Christ, and not for ourselves. We owe him entirety of who and what we are, and should submit to His will at all times.

Paul had had trouble of all sorts from envious Judaizers, false brethren. This has been enough distraction to him. Some people even thought that his distractions from false brethren are the thorns in his flesh he prayed about. Whatever it is, at this point, his desire is to have no more. Therefore, what the trouble is no more important than his resolve to let no stigmata of any kind impede his call and apostolic office. Like Paul, we should never be afraid to rebuke and reject whatever stands on the way of our calling.

In like manner, we should also never allow any stigma by our own way of life or dealings that can raise questions on our authority or identification with Christ.

Quote for the Day: “It does matter what men think of us; but much more what Christ thinks of us. And as far as this is true, Christians must be content to be approved by Christ and never of men.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Lord, help me to continue to walk worthy of the glorious union with You, and if the glorious calling, in Jesus name. Amen.

I wish you a happy Sunday with all my love and prayers,

Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, PhD
