Today’s Text: Ephesians 5:1-5
Key Verses: Ephesians 5:3 (KJV) — “But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints.”

Moral decadence has become the major bane of the postmodern society. Unfortunately, because of the growing pluralistic nature of our communities, the situation has received no check for the most part, if at all. Moral relativism and a rude permissiveness are the logical conclusions. Except there is a check, our world will continue down the cliff of completely losing its way. This meditation is not going to dwell upon why we all seem to regard moral issues with indifference; but upon what scriptural expectations are for believers. While we know that our age is happy with whatever God hates, and hates what He loves; this scripture has it point blank that what unbelievers do should not be once mentioned among us.
Our generation cares less because they think that moral sins are only against their own body; but we understand, by scripture that this is not just the case. Yes, they are sin against the body; but the body is the temple of God. And God does not hold anyone who destroys His temple guiltless. The biblical challenge brought before every Christian today is the need to understand and maintain that immorality dishonor God, and violate His requirements for holy lifestyle. Our world’s corrupt systems promote anything that are inconsistent with God’s plan. That is why they use sexuality to promote anything that appeal to the heart like music, movie and money. We are therefore warned in this text so that we will not be found among people who fail to acknowledge that sexual sin and immoral acts thwart God’s design. 1Peter 4:1 emphasizes that Jesus suffered in the flesh so that we should die to the flesh.
Quote for the Day: “Lustfulness is not just attractive and seductive, it is also addictive; don’t consider one attempt.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: O Lord, help me in battling temptations. Cleanse my mind, my body, my soul, of all lustful desires. Deliver me from the evil one, and protect me from his deceitful lies, in Jesus name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
