Today’s Text: Deuteronomy 33:8-11
Key Verses: Joshua 4:19-24 (KJV): “Then ye shall let your children know, saying, Israel came over this Jordan on dry land.”

It is an indispensable responsibility of godly parents to acquaint their children with truths about God. This is consistent with the premise of “faith comes by hearing.” Our offsprings deserve time know, not just what God expects from them; but of what He has done for them. Why is this important? “That all the people of the earth might know the hand of the Lord, that it is mighty: that ye might fear the Lord your God for ever” (vs 24). So, we must let them know so that they may love God, fear Him, and also walk in His glory. This is consistent with the command in Deuteronomy 6:7 which requires us to teach our children diligently — an injunction that carries the tone of frequency, discreetness and earnestness. Unfortunately, how shall we pay attention to diligence when we already neglected the commitment to obey.
It is quite common for today’s Christians to excuse non observance of biblical injunction in the name of New Testament grace vs. Old Testament legality; but we are all called, as much as the Jews, to raise a pillar of praise to God for bringing us through vicious past; and to declare His saving grace to our children. In Psalm 78:4, David vows on behalf of the entire state of Israel that “we will not hide them [God’s good works] from our descendants; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done.” What “we will not hide” means simply is: we shall show them. We will not let them stay at home when we go up to the house of worship. We will appreciate that God has blessed us with offsprings so that we can lead them to love and serve Him; rather than pursue a mind of their own. What are you? What are you doing about this; and what will you do?
Quote for the Day: "No better way to compromise your parental authority over your children than to let them compromise their regard for divine authority.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Lord, help me not to fail my divinely given responsibility over the next generation, in Jesus name. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
