God’s “Let” Diary (Part 88 ) — Let Not Thine Hands Be Slack

Daily Scripture Threshing for Thursday, September 10, 2020

Today’s Text: Zephaniah 3:9-20

Key Verses: Zephaniah 3:16 (KJV) — “In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear thou not: and to Zion, Let not thine hands be slack.

Just what does it take to see a good vision? Certainly not some flamboyant prophets or magnifying glasses. All it takes is a simple connection with the spirit of the Lord. Today, we see an outstanding revelation of God’s great plan for his people coming from one of the most minor prophets of Israel, Zephaniah. Most people barely know who he is, or that a book by that name so exists in the scripture. But he has one of the greatest prophetic promises of all times — he saw that a time of restoration, restitution and rejoicing was coming when all captives shall return and be settled in their own land. He shares this message of hope so that they all can come out of any shade of discouragement and strengthen their hands.

According to him, God would bestow fulness of salvation on those who hunger and thirst after Him, and cause them to rejoice. No doubt, we too can experience the threefold call made to Israel to sing, shout, and swell for joy if we position ourselves in the light of this prophecy. Yes, there are enough weariness of spirit right now; but if we seek the Lord, He shall have mercy and take His judgments away, cause calamities inflicted on our land because of sin to be removed. Then, all terror and pestilence shall be over and we can shout, sing and swell for joy again. So, turn back to God. Let your wearied or weakened hands be strengthen both in labor and harvest; let them not be slack any more: for if we all seek the Lord, we shall all find the promises of this oracle to be true.

Quote for the Day: "Drooping the hands is the sign of indolence and defeat; waving them is that of industry and victory.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: O Lord, strengthen our hands. Cause a new hope to spring for us, and end for us all the nights of gloom, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

I wish all my American friends and readers a happy Labor Day with all my love and prayers,
