Daily Scripture Threshing for Friday, April 28, 2023
Today’s Text: John 17:20-26
Key Verses: John 17:26 (ESV): “I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them."

Just before His arrest, Jesus prayed a final powerful priestly prayer for his disciples. In that prayer, our Lord made a clear address of the past, a declaration of the present, a prediction of the future. This prayer was necessary because He has finished all that is needed to be done; and the rest is now upon his children. The seed of eternal life has been sown, and his offering of love tossed out for all. Yet, the world cannot know or have the conviction of His righteousness and love except His disciples work out what He already works in to them. They are now the little Christs that must acquaint the world of the power of His love.
As believers in Christ, God is trusting us to be the gleam of His righteousness and love. Through us, Christ’s love must break through the darkness of hate and sin across our world. We must expose, as it were, all odious secrets of darkness, hate and prejudices. Through us, God continues to dispel the power and influence of darkness and to impress Christ’s marvelous light in their hearts. We are positioned wherever we are so that the broad and gross darkness of partiality, factions, hatred, cruelty, injustice and lawlessness that cover the people may encounter Christ’s melting love through us. Just know that these are our Lord’s intention and intercession for us.
Quote for the Day: “Except God’s love for us transitions into love in us; it can never translate into His love reaching the world through us.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you for sending your Son Jesus Christ to reconcile the world to yourself. I pray that you will fill
Me with the power of Your Holy Spirit to spread Your love to all nations — in Jesus Christ's name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
